Policies & what to expect
Boringly professional.
On purpose.
Flat & True Men's Grooming Studio · Lewisville, TX · Appointment only · Body grooming 18+
Everything about the appointment that isn't on the menu: what happens when you walk in, how privacy and draping work, the intimate grooming questions everyone has and nobody asks, sanitation standards, and the studio rules.
Flat & True Men's Grooming Studio is a private grooming studio operating appointment-only at a Lewisville, TX location. Barbering services are open to everyone; professional body grooming services are exclusively for adults 18+.
What to expect
Flat & True is a one-client-at-a-time private studio at 4770 State Hwy 121, Ste 180, Lewisville, TX 75056. Your booking text has the suite number inside and how to find it, and 2 hours before your appointment you'll get a text asking you to reply YES to confirm. If you book without texts, the night before you'll get an email link to confirm you're coming; confirming sends you the suite number inside. There is no lobby and no walk-in traffic.
The appointment, start to finish
- Confirm the build. We go over the areas and finish you requested, look at the hair and skin, and agree the exact price and time before any clipper turns on.
- Undress only for the booked areas. You stay draped everywhere else. A chest appointment does not involve your legs; a legs appointment does not involve anything above them. A haircut or beard line-up is only done if you added it to the booking.
- Guards first. Work starts longer and comes down to the finish you chose, the same way a haircut does. You can stop at any length.
- Blending and edges. Transitions between areas are blended so nothing ends in a hard line unless you asked for a defined one.
- Cleanup and aftercare. Loose hair is removed, the skin is checked, and you get a straight answer on when to come back to keep the length.
First appointment
If you've never had body grooming done professionally, this is the normal version of it.
- Please arrive freshly showered and in clean clothing.
- Bring nothing special. Clippers, guards, drapes, gloves and towels are all provided.
- Tell the truth about what you want. "Shorter but not bare" is a perfectly good instruction; the finishes on the main page give it a name.
- Very dense or long growth is usually taken down in stages. A first heavy takedown can take longer than the estimate; you'll know before we start.
- If you booked an intimate area, the three quick preferences on the request form (how much narration you want, "own it" vs "walk me through it", involuntary responses) are read before you arrive, so nothing needs to be discussed on the spot unless you want to.
- Photos are not required. If you'd like me to see the area ahead of time, your confirmation email has a private link to attach up to 3 photos — only the area you booked. They're seen only by your groomer, never shared or made public, never leave our server, and are deleted after your appointment.
Intimate grooming FAQ
Below-the-belt grooming is one specialty on the menu, not the whole business — but it's the one with the most questions, so here are the straight answers. Front (pubic mound, groin creases, scrotum) and, when booked, back (buttocks and the skin around the anus — external only). Nothing internal is ever offered. The short version: this is hands-on work. Your genitals will be touched, moved, held and kept taut, with gloves on, so the trimming is safe, close and quick. You choose whether I own the positioning or walk you through doing parts of it yourself. Full walkthrough on the main page.
Do I have to be completely naked?
No. You undress only as needed for the booked area and stay draped elsewhere. Privacy is maintained throughout the appointment.
Does the groomer have to touch my genitals?
Yes. Holding the skin taut and moving things out of the blade's path is what keeps the work safe and fast — there is no way around it. Contact is gloved, explained before it happens, and limited to what the grooming requires. If you'd rather do the moving and holding yourself where practical, pick "Walk me through it" on the request form and you'll be instructed; some spots still need the groomer's hands and you'll be told before that happens.
"Own it" vs "Walk me through it" — what's the difference?
Own it: the groomer handles all positioning and holding and narrates as he goes — fastest and cleanest, and what most clients choose. Walk me through it: the groomer asks you to move or hold yourself when practical and does the rest. Both end with the same result; pick whichever makes you comfortable, and change your mind in the chair if you want.
What if I get an erection?
Involuntary physical responses can happen and are not treated as embarrassing. An erection is not required and does not need to be maintained. The appointment remains a professional grooming service; sexual behavior is not permitted.
Is this a sexual service?
No. This is body-hair grooming only. Sexual requests, intentional sexual touching, masturbation or other sexual activity end the appointment.
What equipment do you use?
Professional clippers, guards, trimmers and shears for cutting and trimming; a straight razor for head and face shaves, and fresh disposable razors or a foil shaver for body shaves, depending on the area — new blade for every client, guaranteed; a professional hard-wax system (no strips, single-use applicators) for waxing. Each tool has its own job — speed, blade and handling differ — so the tool is matched to the area, your skin and the finish you want. Waxing and all body hair removal are within the Texas barber and cosmetology licenses (Occupations Code § 1603.0011(a)(6)) — see Licensing.
Can I get waxed below the belt instead of trimmed?
Yes — pubic mound, groin creases and scrotum, $80 for the set (the full Manzilian, front and back, is $120 flat by any method). It is more hands-on than trimming: every pull needs the skin held flat and taut, so expect to be handled throughout. Hair is trimmed to ¼" first, the area is cleaned and powdered, and it runs about an hour and a half. Not over irritated skin, and not if you're on Accutane or retinoids. Red for a few hours after; no gym, sun, hot tub or sex for 24 hours.
Will I be asked to reposition myself?
If you chose "Walk me through it", yes — you may be asked to reposition or hold yourself so loose skin can be kept taut safely. Either way, the provider will explain any necessary contact before it happens. You can stop the service at any time.
The consent statement on the request form
I understand that below-the-belt grooming requires hands-on professional contact with my genitals — moving them, holding them and keeping the skin taut — and, if I booked the buttocks or perianal area, with my buttocks and the skin around (never inside) the anus, including gently spreading the cheeks, so the work can be done safely and closely. I can be asked to do some of that myself when practical. I understand that I may ask to pause or stop at any time. I understand this is a grooming service and does not include sexual services or sexual activity.
Boundaries
The service explicitly excludes sexual activity. Front means pubic mound, groin creases and scrotum. Back means buttocks and the perianal area — around, never inside, including gently separating the cheeks. Sexual requests, intentional sexual touching, masturbation or other sexual activity end the appointment, with the full price due.
Licensing — what a Texas barber & cosmetology license covers
Every service here is performed under a Texas barber license and a Texas cosmetology operator license, issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) under Chapter 1603 of the Texas Occupations Code — 11+ years licensed.
What those licenses cover, in full. Texas law defines the practice of barbering and cosmetology together (Occupations Code § 1603.0011(a)). It includes, for compensation:
- Arranging, beautifying, bleaching, cleansing, coloring, cutting, dressing, dyeing, processing, shaping, singeing, straightening, styling, tinting or waving hair.
- Arranging, beautifying, coloring, processing, styling, trimming or shaving a mustache or beard.
- Cleansing, stimulating or massaging the scalp, face, neck, shoulders or arms, by hand or with devices, with or without cosmetic preparations.
- Beautifying the face, neck, shoulders or arms with cosmetic preparations and appliances, and administering facial treatments.
- “Removing superfluous hair from a person's body using depilatories, preparations or chemicals, tweezers, or other devices or appliances of any kind or description” — § 1603.0011(a)(6). That is body hair removal of every kind: waxing, trimming and shaving included.
- Nail care, hand and foot care, and hair weaving.
Barbering also specifically includes shaving a person's face, neck, mustache or beard with a razor of any type (§ 1603.0011(b)). Under § 1603.2103, a Class A barber license may perform any barbering service, and a cosmetology operator license may perform any cosmetology service.
“Don't you need an esthetician license for waxing?” No. An esthetician license is a narrower specialty license. By law it may perform only the services in § 1603.0011(a)(3)–(6) and (c) — the skin-care, facial and hair-removal items on the same list, plus eyelash extensions (§ 1603.2103). Body hair removal, including waxing, is already part of the full barber and cosmetology licenses. An esthetician license is a subset of what those licenses cover; it adds nothing to them.
Any Texas license can be verified on TDLR's public license search at tdlr.texas.gov/LicenseSearch. Statute text: Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 1603.
Safety + sanitation
"Hair is hair" is the commercial idea. It is not the safety standard. Licensing, insurance, sanitation, contraindications and technique limits decide what gets done on a given day — different skin and different areas carry different risks even when the service sounds the same.
- No service over broken, irritated, infected or visibly unhealthy skin.
- New blade for every client, guaranteed. Straight-razor blades and disposable razors are never reused. Fresh gloves for intimate work. Clipper blades, shears and guards are cleaned and disinfected between clients; drapes and towels are single-use or laundered.
- Three methods: clipper and trimmer work, shaving (straight razor, disposable razor or foil shaver, depending on the area), and hard-wax removal. Waxing is done under Texas barber and cosmetology licenses with single-use applicators (no double-dipping), fresh wax per client, and a patch test on request or on reactive skin.
- Waxing is declined that day over sunburned, irritated, broken or recently exfoliated skin, and for anyone on Accutane/isotretinoin, oral retinoids, a retinoid or acid cream on the area, or blood thinners. Answer the waxing question on the request form honestly — this is the one that actually takes skin off if you don't.
- If the skin-safety question on the request form is answered "Yes — contact me before appointment", you'll be contacted before anything is scheduled.
- Some areas may be declined or shortened on the day based on skin condition. That call is final and is made for your benefit.
- Aftercare after waxing: no gym, sun, hot tub, tight synthetic clothing or sex for 24 hours; gentle exfoliation from day 3 to keep ingrowns down; come back at 3–5 weeks with ¼" of growth.
- Aftercare after trimming is simple: keep the area clean and dry for the rest of the day, skip heavy sweating or hot tubs for 24 hours, and expect mild redness on sensitive skin to settle within hours.
Policies
- 18+ only for body grooming. Body grooming services are for adults 18 years of age or older. Requests without the 18+ confirmation cannot be submitted. Barbering is open to all ages.
- Appointment only. Requests are confirmed by reply; nothing is charged online. Final price is agreed in person before work starts.
- Paying. Nothing is paid on this website. Accepted: cash, Square (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay — on Square's secure page, pay link here), tap to pay at the visit, Zelle and Cash App. Nothing is charged when you book a studio visit; mobile visits need a non-refundable deposit paid online through Square (see Mobile visits). We never see or store your card number.
- Tip included. Every listed price already includes gratuity. Extra is appreciated, never expected, and there's no surprise total at checkout.
- Hygiene. Please arrive freshly showered and in clean clothing. Appointments may be declined if this isn't met.
- Boundaries. Sexual requests, intentional sexual touching, masturbation or other sexual activity end the appointment, with the full price due.
- Consent. Before a below-the-belt appointment, you confirm you understand that this grooming requires hands-on professional contact with your genitals and — if booked — your buttocks and the skin around (never inside) the anus, that you can be asked to do some of that yourself when practical, and that you may ask to pause or stop at any time.
- Late / no-show. Running late shortens the appointment, not the price. Cancel or move with at least 24 hours' notice; repeated no-shows are declined future bookings.
- Photos. Optional and never required. After booking you get a private link to attach up to 3 photos of only the area being groomed, to help plan the service. Private, never shared or public, never leave our server, stripped of location data, and deleted after the appointment.
- Your information. Stored on our own server, never sold, deleted on request. See the privacy policy.
Barbering policies
Haircuts, beard work, straight-razor shaves, color and styling follow the studio policies above — appointment only, tip included, 24 hours' notice to cancel or move — plus these:
- All ages. Barbering is open to everyone. The Whippersnapper is for kids 12 & under, #1 guard or higher — shampoo, razor neck trim, and a hot towel finish.
- Book the closest fit. Book the closest fit and we'll confirm the plan before the work begins. Consultation comes first, and the plan is built for the person in the chair.
- Seven-day guarantee. If something in my work needs an adjustment, text me within seven days and I'll make it right at no charge. That's not a promotion — it's accountability.
- The Hero Cut. The full $45 haircut at $35 for military, veterans, first responders, and medical professionals. Please have ID at your appointment. One discount per visit — it doesn't stack with other offers.
- The Repair. A botched, butchered, or rushed cut from somewhere else — assessed and fixed right, with all the finishing. Satisfaction guaranteed or you don't pay.
- After hours. After-hours & overnight cuts are possible by prior arrangement; text first. Text the date, time, and service you need; availability and the final rate are confirmed before the appointment.
- Clean tools. Every client. Clippers and trimmers are sprayed down with Clippercide between every client. Razor blades are swapped fresh for every shave. Guards, shears, and combs are laid out before you sit down — never mid-cut.
Mobile visits
Every service on the menu can be done at your place instead of the studio — haircuts, beard and shaves, body grooming, waxing, below the belt. Service prices are the same as the studio.
- Required to request a mobile visit: your full name, email, mobile number, the address, the day and time, the services, and notes saying exactly what you want (areas, lengths, style) — that's how I know what equipment to bring.
- Non-refundable deposit. A $50 mobile deposit is paid on Square's secure page when you request the visit, and it is non-refundable — including if you cancel, reschedule late, or aren't there when I arrive. Within about 15 miles of the studio, $25 of it applies to your service and $25 covers travel and setup. Farther than about 15 miles, the full $50 covers travel and setup.
- $100 service minimum. Mobile visits have a $100 service minimum (before the deposit credit).
- Not confirmed until paid. A mobile visit is only confirmed once the deposit is paid. Your time is held for 24 hours; if the deposit isn't paid by then, the time is released and nothing is booked.
- All charges. The $50 deposit (paid when you request) plus the service price — the same as the studio, $100 minimum, confirmed in person before any work starts. At the visit you pay the service price minus any deposit credit ($25 within about 15 miles), by card (Square), tap to pay, Zelle or Cash App. The tip is already included in every price — extra is never expected.
- Your space. A private room with about 7 × 3 ft of floor space for the table, an outlet nearby, and pets put away. Tell me about gate codes, parking or stairs when you book.
- Same rules as the studio. 18+ only, the same consent and boundaries, no sexual services or activity of any kind. If the visit isn't safe or the rules aren't followed, I leave and the deposit is kept.
Calls, texts and email
Confirmations, the night-before confirm link and reminders come by email. If you tick the optional text box when you book, you also get appointment texts from our appointment text line (up to 5 per booking; reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help; SMS terms). No promotional texts. 469-516-9264 is text only — calls go to voicemail and get a text back. Text it any time with a question, to move an appointment, or when you arrive — you'll get a real reply from me. You can also send a question from the questions form.
The studio maintains data on its own server, never sells information, and deletes records upon request — see the Privacy Policy.
